Emilia Tambwe (International Business Law LLM, 2021) was invited to meet the Olympic Team GB in Paris in the lead up to the 2024 Olympics.
This is what Emilia said about it when the posted about this occasion on her LinkedIn: “The Olympic Games have officially started! It was a pleasure to return to the British Ambassador’s residence in Paris to meet the British athletes competing in France for the games. (Special kudos to Tom Daley & Adam Peaty for their silver medals.) What an honour to also see Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, who used to be a former Olympian competing during the Olympics of 1976. Thank you to the British Ambassador Dame Menna Rawlings and the British Embassy Paris for this invitation. As a French native, I have to admit that I will be a bit biased. I do hope that our national sports teams win as many medals as they can. However, as a British citizen, I am also with GB! Proud to be a Franco-British Local leader!”
When not rubbing shoulders with celebrities at high profile events Emilia is involved in running International Aspiring Leaders (IFAL) of which she is the Founder. IFAL is an organisation promoting the inclusion of international students in the UK labour market. It is a not-for-profit organisation, which advocates cultural diversity and global mobility at the workplace.
In 2023, Emilia was awarded the title Franco-British Local Leader 2023 by the Franco-British Council, the French Ambassador to the UK and the British Ambassador to France and Monaco. Since her appointment and as a part of this role Emilia has been invited to a number of meetings and events with the UK Ambassador to France, HE Dame Menna Rawlings and the President of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Mrs Odile Renaud-Basso, to name just a few.
