Lisa Kachina Poku (Human Rights Law LLM, 2022), who currently works as a case coordinator in NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council), recently published two articles in a peer review medical journal. Lisa’s two articles “A critical case commentary on Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership and North Bristol NHS Trust v WA and DT: Did the judge reach a fair and just decision regarding the capacity and best interest of the person?” and “A Review of Advance Directives. What circumstances justify interference with the wishes expressed in an advance directive?” are published in The Journal of Medicine, Law & Public Health.
The articles are available online via Research Gate, JML&P Health, etc.
This is what Lisa says about her background and future career plans on her LinkedIn profile: “I am a barrister of England and Wales (Unregistered) and a member of the Middle Temple, with over 5 years of legal education and training in various fields of law. I have a Master of Laws in Human Rights Law from Queen Mary University of London, as well as a Master of Arts in Medical Law from King's College London which reflect my specialisations and interests in these areas of law.
My passion is to advance human rights and justice through advocacy and litigation. I have gained valuable insights into the skills and practices required for the Bar through four mini-pupillages in criminal and family law, and marshalling with HHJ Hess at Central Family Court. I am eager to take on new challenges and opportunities, and I am preparing to sit for the New York Bar Exam in 2025 to expand my horizons. I am looking for a challenging and rewarding pupillage that will allow me to grow as a barrister and contribute to the legal profession and society.”
