With 12 years of experience in Greek, EU, and international taxation, George has been a key member of the Business and International Tax team at Deloitte Greece since 2016. In this new role, he will spearhead efforts to deliver innovative tax solutions for clients navigating an increasingly complex global landscape.
"I am honored to step into the role of Principal at Deloitte. This promotion marks an important milestone in my career, and I am excited about the opportunity to further contribute to our firm's success. Deloitte Greece is a leader in providing comprehensive tax and legal advisory services to businesses and high-net-worth individuals. The firm’s Business Tax and International Tax teams help clients navigate increasingly complex tax regulations, plan for future obligations and manage cross-border risks. With a focus on resolving intricate tax disputes and optimizing global strategies, Deloitte has built a reputation for delivering high-quality services that align with the strategic goals of their clients. I look forward to continuing our tradition of delivering exceptional service to our clients, assisting them to fulfill their business objectives." George shared.
Prior to joining Deloitte Greece, George built a strong foundation at a major law firm in Athens, where he practiced litigation, tax law, civil law, labor law and corporate law. This wide-ranging legal experience provided a solid base for his transition into tax advisory work. In 2013, George joined the Tax Advisory Department of another Big Four firm as an Assistant, later being promoted to Senior Consultant due to their strong performance.
In November 2016, George transitioned to Deloitte Greece as an Assistant Manager, soon progressing to Manager in 2017, Senior Manager in 2020 and now Principal in 2024. His steady rise within the company is a testament to his expertise, dedication and commitment.
Reflecting on his academic journey, George remarked, "My LLM studies in Tax Law at Queen Mary University of London gave me the tools and perspective needed to excel in the complex field of EU & international taxation. The knowledge and experiences I gained there have been critical to my career success and continue to influence my daily work till today."
As part of his role at Deloitte Greece, George has provided strategic tax advice to a variety of European companies and domestic (Greek) corporations, specializing in cross-border transactions and tax structuring advice. In addition to client work, he is an accredited facilitator at Deloitte Academy, where he helps, guides and mentors the next generation of tax professionals.
Outside of Deloitte, George is a lawyer who graduated from School of Law in Greece (National & Kapodistrian University of Athens) in 2008 with an LLB. He is registered with the Athens Bar Association and also holds a business certification in tax law from Athens University of Economics and Business, which he completed with distinction in 2014. With his extensive experience in both tax and legal matters, George is well-positioned to lead Deloitte’s strategic initiatives moving forward.
"I look forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in this ever-evolving tax field and to continuing to make a meaningful impact that matters for our clients." George concluded.
