How did you come to choose to study at CCLS?

I believe the drive to study for a Masters degree is based on the potential synergy between the people involved in the programme and the place of study itself. Therefore, the expertise of the professors, facilities, location, and the opportunity to share the programme with other classmates were aspects that I considered to study my specialisation in Banking and Finance at CCLS. I would like to mention that I was a recipient of a Chevening Scholarship and the process for its application helped me to find and choose the best option in my area of interest.

What was your favourite memory as a CCLS student?

I have many fond memories, but what I enjoyed the most was the opportunity to connect with classmates and professors. The environment is very friendly and I always found opportunities to discuss interesting topics, regulatory and financial developments with them, as well as attending different CCLS events and social activities. From the very beginning, we had space for those opportunities to happen. For example, we had different introductory classes about courses and facilities, we visited Cumberland Lodge and we had career coaching sessions, among others. Last but not least, I enjoyed my time around the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS) Library; it was a place for studying as well as meeting with other classmates from different specialisations, planning other social activities and having informal lunches.

What does being a member of the CCLS community mean to you?

I feel pride in being a QMUL alumnus. As mentioned before, the educational experience goes beyond the lectures and more about the professional and learning network that I made during that year. I have very good friends with whom I keep in touch and I share professional and social activities regardless of our current location. The same sentiment goes for the professors, which are always open to offer help or support. These examples are testament to how important the CCLS community is and the constant contribution it has on our professional and personal development.

How did your CCLS experience contribute to your career?

It expanded my vision and understanding about the practice of law, career paths and professional development. I think the programme and activities are carefully designed. The courses matched with my goals and were supplemented with academic activities and career sessions organised by CCLS. I would also like to make a special mention to Professors Rosa Lastra and Rodrigo Olivares-Caminal since they contributed with their lectures and professional guidance aiding my process of learning and setting new professional horizons.

Why do you think prospective students should study at CCLS?

I would recommend studying a Masters degree at CCLS because it's a challenging and rewarding experience and takes place in a wonderful city with lots of other activities and opportunities. CCLS programmes contribute to the learning in a particular field while promoting the opportunity to make friends with your classmates, professors and colleagues. For sure, these are reasons directly related to CCLS, but the fact that it is in London adds more reasons to study there.
