I wanted to give an international dimension to my academic background and living in London has always been one of my goals. I love London because it is a cosmopolitan place where nationalities from all over the world live together enhancing its cultural diversity. CCLS is a perfect illustration of this cosmopolitan dimension. Indeed, fellow students come from the UK and more than 80 other countries. Therefore, CCLS was the perfect choice for me. London is also a city full of opportunities and one of the greatest cities in the world. I also chose CCLS because it offers a varied selection of modules, enabling it to suit my interests and career goals. On top of that, CCLS is recognized worldwide and is one of the UK’s leading law schools. CCLS’s expert academics come from a range of backgrounds and disciplines, giving vital comparative and international perspectives. Finally, CCLS is based in Lincoln’s Inn Fields, the heart of London’s historic legal center and enables you to take part in networking and social events.
I have many memories of my year in London as a CCLS student and this year remains definitely the best. I often get nostalgic thinking about it. I met many beautiful people and friends. The induction trip at Cumberland Lodge was amazing. However, if I have to choose my favourite memory, it would be the fact that CCLS allowed me to meet my future husband (he was a CCLS student the same year). We now live together in Morocco, who would have expected that?
I am very proud to be part of the CCLS community. From my perspective, being a member of the CCLS community means being part of a group and network of very open-minded and talented people from different backgrounds with whom you can continue to exchange views on various topics and learn from each other. Finally, CCLS is like a big family all around the world.
CCLS had a significant impact on my career and opened up many opportunities. CCLS allowed me to develop my legal knowledge, while improving my skills in dealing with complex international issues. The quality of the teaching combining theory and practice allowed me to develop legal reflexes, international comparative perspectives and new analytical skills to solve complex cases and find creative solutions. While studying at CCLS, I also had the chance to get an internship in the London office of an international law firm (Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner). Moreover, after my year at CCLS, my LLM enabled me to obtain further internships and opportunities in international companies and even within the French Competition Authority.I am now an expatriate in Morocco working for an international pharmaceutical company.
I would say that everyone should live in London at least once in their life. In London you will never get bored and should always expect the unexpected. Studying at CCLS opens up some very good doors and opportunities. Indeed, studying at CCLS is more than just a year of study, it is a real immersive experience in the heart of London, very rewarding, intellectually challenging and above all it’s an investment in building your future career.
