Necla studied Competition Law in 2019 and is now the Competition Expert for The Turkish Competition Authority.
As a public servant/competition expert in The Turkish Competition Authority, I was given the opportunity to study for a master’s degree abroad. CCLS was definitely my first choice since it allows both a flexible program and a qualified academic education in my field. I also had several friends who graduated from CCLS and were satisfied with their choices. Thankfully, that encouraged me to join this program.
I collected countless memories during my program. After having seven years of work experience and being mother of a three years old child, studying as a student for a year was hard, but more than that, it was amazing. If I have to share just one memory, school parties were my favourite since they brought together not just students but the academic staff and CCLS personnel. I enjoyed spending time with them out of classes.
CCLS has a diverse community and I have friends from all over the world. I am in contact with friends from South America to Asia who are professionals and studied at the same time as me. In addition, as a co-editor of Queen Mary University’s journal, ‘Global Antitrust Review’, I can keep in touch with not only the school academics but also the new students. So being a member of CCLS is not a one-year experience, but a source of life-long relationships with professionals.
After finishing my LLM program, I gained multidisciplinary thinking abilities. I studied not just competition law but also international/comparative competition law and data protection law. This helped me to conduct competition cases more professionally and handle the market failures with a multidisciplinary viewpoint. That is why I transferred to the department responsible for digital markets and platforms, which require assessments that are more technical.
If they want to gain expertise in their field and at the same time link academic life with practice, and they want these opportunities in a cosmopolitan city like London, which hosts people from all over the world - CCLS will be the best choice for them.
