Gadi Oron graduated from CCLS with an Intellectual Property Law LLM in 2004. He is now Director General of International Confederation of Authors and Composers Societies (CISAC) and Visiting Professor at CCLS. Read more about his experience:
I chose to study at Queen Mary’s CCLS because of its reputation as one of the leading Intellectual Property (IP) research institutes in Europe. At the time of my application, I was a practicing lawyer in an IP law firm. I was keen to expand my knowledge of international IP law and I knew I wanted to study in the UK and focus on English law. Queen Mary’s CCLS is widely recognised in the IP field and the impressive range of courses offered in this area made it an obvious choice. In fact, the challenging part was to decide which courses to enrol on!
It is difficult to identify one particular moment. I spent one year as a LLM student but the first few days at the campus were special, as they signified a new chapter in my life. The graduation ceremony at the Mile End campus was also memorable.
I am proud to be a graduate and belong to the CCLS community. I feel that Queen Mary had a profound impact on my professional career and my studies have opened doors I did not even know existed. I am still involved in CCLS’ activities as a visiting professor and enjoy giving back and sharing my knowledge and experience with the young generations of students.
My studies helped me gain significant knowledge of international law and led me to focus my career on international work. When I started my career, I concentrated on domestic legal work but the courses I took widened by knowledge and, as a result, helped me expand my work more internationally.
The expertise, reputation and the wide range of commercial law courses offered by CCLS are, in my view, unparalleled.
