Rebecca studied Regulation and Compliance LLM in 2020 and now is Director in ‘Investigations, Disputes and Risk’ at AlixPartners
Why did you choose to study at CCLS?
I did my homework when selecting a university to study for my LLM and asked lawyer friends for their advice. CCLS was frequently mentioned for it has an excellent reputation. Additionally, I wanted to study for a very specific specialism – Regulation and Compliance, due to my professional experience and CCLS was one of the few places that offered that programme with the selection of modules that appealed to me.
What is your favourite memory of being a CCLS student?
The location of CCLS at Lincoln’s Inn Fields is at the heart of the legal community, so you are living, breathing that environment while you are studying.
What does being a member of the CCLS community mean to you?
Knowing that I am part of a network of professionals that I can draw on for support and advice. Having access to events and forums on interesting, relevant topics that I could only have by being part of such a network. I would also add value to the community by being a useful resource for others who may be thinking about a career in Forensics.
How did your CCLS experiences contribute to your career?
I have been constantly amazed how much I have applied the knowledge I gained from each module I studied, as part of my LLM, to my everyday working life. Everything from Environmental, Social and Governance to the principles of regulation has had some sort of applicability to the work that I do as a Forensic Accountant and this helps to add value to conversations I have with my clients.
Why do you think prospective students should study at CCLS?
There are multiple excellent reasons for studying at CCLS. For me, it was access to the most incredible academics who were happy to debate issues and provide invaluable advice throughout their programmes. Additionally, the variety and flexibility of courses available, with opportunities to pick modules outside of your direct programme, was a huge plus for me.
