QM Research Seminar Series Award for Best Presentation

Aleksandra Jordanoska

The Queen Mary School of Law Research Seminar Series 2012-2013 culminated in a drinks reception and award presentation for this year’s 'Best Presentation', which was won by Aleksandra Jordanoska. This year’s series of seminars featured talks as diverse as 'Identity and Privacy in the Digital Economy' and 'Marriages of Convenience Contracted to Exploit a Loophole in the EU Free Movement Directive'.

Aleksandra’s presentation focused on 'Regulatory Enforcement in the Financial Services Industry: Tackling Financial Misconduct'. After her presentation Aleksandra participated in an intense question and answer session with the audience regarding her research. Her spirited defence was the highlight of this year’s presentations.

In presenting the award, Professor Chris Reed commented: "I was particularly impressed by Aleksandra's ability to convey her passion for the subject. She picked an aspect of her research that I had thought would be dull, and told a story about it that made it fascinating to me and the audience. Her answers to questions were distilled from a clear depth of knowledge and tailored to her audience's level of knowledge in the area. She was a very worthy winner of the award."

The Research Seminar Series, organised by Dr Tom O'Shea, will start again in October 2013 and will feature the best that Queen Mary School of Law researchers have to offer as well as talks delivered by visiting scholars from around the world.
