Dr Alexandros X.M. Ntovas, Lecturer in Shipping Law, and Dr Miriam Goldby, Senior Lecturer in Law, from QMUL's Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) organised the second CCLS International Shipping Law Roundtable. The topic for the 2016 Roundtable was 'Piracy, Refugees, War Risks and Sanctions: The Impact on Maritime Trade'. The event was hosted in the headquarters of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and sponsored by the eminent Stone Chambers. It covered issues of high relevance to the shipping business, featuring an in-depth discussion among both established and young up-and-coming academics and high-profile practitioners, featuring the opening speech of the IMO Director Legal Affairs and External Relations Division Mr Frederick J. Kenney. The CCLS International Shipping Law Roundtable is a biennial event that has been already firmly established on the maritime law agenda of London.
