Professor Rosa Lastra, Sir John Lubbock Chair in Banking Law, was part of a panel ‘Money Money Money: In Conversation with the money experts’ hosted by Clifford Chance partner Simon Gleeson.
Prof. Lastra discussed various topics related to money, currency, FinTech and banking and financial regulation, including: The evolving notion of money and how cryptocurrencies and assets are challenging the current banking system; how the nature of commerce, and the nature of payments is changing, and what this means for regulating payment system providers; exciting developments in banks using artificial intelligence to cut costs in combatting financial crime; and how FinTech developments, for example crowdfunding and digital currencies, can lead to greater financial inclusion for marginalised groups, communities and nations.
