The LGBT+ Undergraduate of the Year Award 2020 with Clifford Chance recognises the range of endeavors and achievements made by LGBT+ students
Laura Cestaro, a Final Year LLB Law student at Queen Mary University of London, fought off tough competition to be named a finalist for The LGBT+ Undergraduate of the Year Award 2020 in partnership with Clifford Chance.
The LGBT+ Undergraduate of the Year Award 2020 with Clifford Chance recognises the range of endeavors and achievements made by LGBT+ students. Laura had to complete an application and a series of online tests before competing with other students in an assessment centre where Clifford Chance were impressed with her performance and shortlisted her for the final. Laura said:
“Having passed the multiple stages of selection for this Award was an absolute joy for me. From sending a written application to attending an assessment day at Clifford Chance, to being part of the virtual awards ceremony, I learned a lot and met many like-minded individuals. I am proud that my efforts did not go unnoticed, bringing me to the top 10 applicants for this Award.
What was even more thrilling was the opportunity I had to share my experiences as an LGBT+ person and the actions I took to support the community throughout my life. Speaking about “Equality Club”, an initiative extracurricular activity that I single-handedly led in high school and the impact this awareness-raising, activist support group has had on myself and others, was unique.
This activity has since then shaped my thinking, approach to others, and even career aspirations, and I am honoured that Clifford Chance deemed it so worthy of recognition."
