On 24 May 2023, the Insurance, Shipping and Aviation Law Institute at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies hosted a roundtable on Addressing Systemic Risk in Cyber Risk Insurance.
The event was organised and moderated by Miriam Goldby, Professor of Shipping, Insurance and Commercial Law, and Dr Franziska Arnold-Dwyer, Senior Lecturer in Insurance Law, Contract Law and Sustainability at Queen Mary, to create a forum for mapping and discussing the cyber risk challenges and opportunities that the insurance industry faces, such as key cyber risks, insurability and protection gaps, legislative and regulatory approaches to cyber risk, risk prevention and risk management, wording issues, premium modelling, and the role of government. Panel speakers included members of the insurance industry, the regulator and Academia. The event attracted a good turn-out with an audience that was more than happy to join in the discussion.
