Queen Mary School of Law academic shortlisted for THE Awards

The School of Law at Queen Mary University of London is delighted to announce that Professor Julia Hörnle has been shortlisted for the Times Higher Education (THE) Awards 2023.

Professor Hörnle, Chair of Internet Law at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies, has been shortlisted for the Outstanding Research Supervisor of the Year award. Professor Hörnle is renowned for creating supportive, stimulating and inspirational research environment for doctoral students, which have helped to nurture and develop the careers of many PhD students. She is praised by her students for her thorough, rigorous, and considered feedback, as well as her proactive approach to career development.

Kate Thornton, Technical Resource Manager for the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Queen Mary, is also up for Outstanding Technician of the Year award. More than 70 universities from across the UK and Ireland are in the running for this year’s ‘Oscars of higher education’, and the shortlists are a testament to the outstanding work being done by staff at Queen Mary.

Professor Hörnle also won two awards at the Queen Mary's inaugural Research and Innovation Awards earlier this year, including most outstanding overall research supervisor.
