In July, CHILL members, Helen Wood and Jess Mitchell, delivered a talk about Health Inequity in London and the CHILL study to undergraduate students from Oregon State University, College of Health

The talk covered a range of topics including the history of air pollution in London and the USA, social determinants of health, the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and mitigation strategies in the UK vs USA.

Students discussed the proposed congestion relief zone in Manhattan, New York. This zone resembles London’s congestion charge scheme from 2003.

In groups, students were tasked with designing a study to look at an intervention to cut air pollution and its impact on children's health. Many students' ideas aligned with the design of the CHILL study. Concluding the talk, Helen shared an overview of data collection and the status of the study.

Our team thoroughly enjoyed leading discussions on air pollution and health inequity and hearing student's reflections on the topic.
