Christopher Millard spoke at the Information Law and Policy Centre Seminar on Blockchain Implications for Data Protection Law. The seminar concerned the compatibility of blockchain technology with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). In particular, who holds responsibility for data processing within the blockchain system across a network that is distributed across many nodes (individuals or organisations holding a copy of the distributed ledger). Moreover, what are the implications for an individual’s rights to delete or correct their personal data within the immutable Blockchain?
