Dr Patrizia Albanese

Profile

Dr. Patrizia Albanese is Associate Dean, Research and Graduate Studies in the Faculty of Arts at Toronto Metropolitan University (former Ryerson University); full professor in the Department of Sociology and a past chair of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences. She was Chair of the Ryerson University Research Ethics Board, Interim Chair of Criminology, and Interim Graduate Director of the PhD in Policy Studies. She is co-leading the local organizing committee of the International Conference on Public Policy (ICPP6) hosted at Toronto Metropolitan University in June 2023. She is the recipient of the 2018 Canadian Sociological Association (CSA) Outstanding Contribution to the Discipline of Sociology in Canada Award, the 2019 CSA Outstanding Service Award and the 2018 Faculty of Arts Dean’s Service Award. She is doing research and publishing in the area of policies affecting children, youth, women and families, including past research on the well-being of youth in Canadian Forces families, on child care policies, child poverty, and on how care is conceptualized in Canadian family policies.
