Ms Sylvia Nkeiruka Agu

Profile

Sylvia N. Agu (LLB (Hons.), LLM) gained her Undergraduate, Master’s, and Postgraduate degrees in Law at Anglia Ruskin University, Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London, and Cardiff University, in 2007, 2009 and 2015, respectively, and qualified in 2019 as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales.

Previously, she lectured students on ‘Introduction to Mergers & Acquisitions’ and the ‘Language of International Law on the Rights of the Child’ at the Bucerius Law School, Hamburg, Germany in 2023. From 2020 to 2022 she lectured students on the International Business Management Course on ‘Private International Law, European Union Law, and German Law’ at the VICTORIA International University of Applied Sciences, Berlin, Germany. From 2011 to 2014 she held the positions of Assistant Editor and Project Manager for the German Yearbook of International Law, as a Researcher, and Lecturer teaching master’s students in ‘International Criminal Law’ and the ‘International Law on the Rights of the Child’ at the Walther Schücking Institute for International Law at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, Germany.

She submitted her PhD thesis in Public International Law in April 2022 at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, Germany under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Kerstin von der Decken. The topic of her PhD was on “The International Legal Protection of Children in Street Situations – A Review of Applicable International Human Rights Instruments and Documents in the Realisation of Rights Claims” which she defended in January 2024.
