Profile

Mylène Hernandez is a doctor in anthropology. She graduated from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, her research focuses on siblingship in contemporary France. After having defended her Ph.D dissertation which dealt with the moral obligations between siblings, based on an ethnographic survey of sisters and brothers of individuals with autism spectrum disorders, Mylène Hernandez continues her reflection today by diversifying her empirical points of focus. She is currently working as a CNRS post-doctorate researcher as part of the ORIGINES program, affiliated to the Centre Norbert Elias (Marseille). She strives to grasp siblingship through the prism of the adoptive experience, especially the quest of adopted people for their origins, from the questionings to the practical research they generate.
