Deirdre is a senior lecturer in Social Policy and Deputy Director of the BA (Early Years and Childhood Studies) at University College Cork. She co-convenes the ISS21 Children and Young People research cluster: https://www.ucc.ie/en/iss21/clusters/children/ Deirdre has conducted a number of funded research projects using child participatory methods and reported on Irish government consultations with children on a range of policy issues. She is co-investigator on IMMERSE a Horizon 2020 European project on socio-educational integration of children with migrant backgrounds https://www.immerse-h2020.eu/. In 2021, Deirdre co-edited a book Child and Youth Participation in Policy, Practice and Research (Routledge). Orcid: 0000-0003-4684-1975
