I moved to Finland in 2017 after working in Australia as an academic from 2000, including as a Senior Lecturer at The University of Newcastle (2008-17). Prior to that I lived in Budapest in the latter half of the 1990s. In Finland I was a fellow in the Institute for Advanced Social Research (IASR) in 2016-8 at the University of Tampere as well as a brief stint with the Space and Political Agency Research Group (SPARG) in 2015. In 2018 I joined the Tampere Peace Research Institute (TAPRI) and have been teaching courses on Global Terrorism, Comparative Genocide, and Memorialization of Trauma for the Peace Studies Master’s program as well as supervising MA and PhD students. I have developed and taught courses in Australia, Finland, Germany, and Hungary, and I am a native speaker of Hungarian.
