She serves as associate editor for the journal, Child & Family Social Work. Amy leads applied research to build evidence about children and their best interests in child protection and out-of-home care systems. A key focus is the active exchange of research findings into policy and practice through substantial engagement with policy makers, practitioners, judiciary and people with lived experience. She leads a significant body of externally funded research and manages a staff of four full-time researchers and knowledge translation experts, as well as supervises PhD, Masters and honours students. She is currently lead Chief Investigator on the ARC Linkage project Fostering Lifelong Connections for Children in Permanent Care and Chief Investigator on the ARC Linkage project Upholding the Right to Cultural Connections for Children in Care. She is also leading evaluation of NSW Family Group Conferencing as well as numerous other externally funded projects. Her collaborative international research and applied work have been recognised as influencing child and family services in Australia, U.S., Taiwan, Romania and other countries.
