Profile

Dr. Elisabeth M. Yang is a senior postdoctoral researcher and Wellcome Early Career Award recipient in the School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science at the University of Leeds. She holds a Ph.D. in Childhood Studies, an MA in the History and Philosophy of Science and Medicine, an MA in Philosophy of Religion and Ethics, and a BA in Medieval and Renaissance Studies. As an interdisciplinary scholar, she draws from the history and philosophy of science and medicine, sociology, theology, childhood studies, and material culture. She has taught and held fellowships in the following institutions such as Rutgers University, Boston University,  Center for Health Humanities of the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, American Antiquarian Society, Library Company of Philadelphia, Winterthur, and the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. Dr. Yang is working on her first book, Constructing Moral Babies, concerning the historical and philosophical constructions of moral babies in American and British medical and pedagogical discourses during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. She is also the guest co-editor of the special issue of Osiris.
