He qualified as an orthodontist after extensive training at the University of Glasgow where he worked as a clinical lecturer. In 2013, he was awarded PhD based on a multi-centre randomised clinical trial in comparing the effectiveness of orthodontic treatment between the 0.018 and 0.022-inch bracket slot systems. He then moved to London where he spent 3 years treating and managing complex orthodontic cases at the Royal London Hospital to qualify as a consultant orthodontist. He was then appointed in 2017 as a senior clinical lecturer and head of Orthodontics at the University of Manchester treating complex cases, training postgraduate students, and supervising PhD students. In 2024, he joined QMUL as senior clinical lecture and director of the Doctorate in Orthodontics programme. Dr ElAngbawi is an international speaker and a visiting professor at several international universities.
