Profile

Upon graduating with a BDS degree from the College of Medicine University of Lagos Nigeria in 1994, I went on to complete a six-year postgraduate specialisation in paediatric dentistry and obtained the specialty training fellowship (FMCDS) of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. After emigrating to the UK, I completed the statutory examination to obtain full registration with the General Dental Council.

I obtained a postgraduate certificate in academic practice (PGCAP) at QMUL in 2010, membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh the following year and completed a Master of Arts Education for Clinical Contexts with merit in 2019. I serve as a deputy chair for the academic appeals panel and a volunteer science tutor for one of QMUL’s widening participation partners.

I examine at the Licentiate in Dental Surgery Examination of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Overseas Registration Examination for dentists and Diploma examination of the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses. I am external examiner for undergraduate BDS programmes at Cardiff and Leeds dental schools and also serve as external examiner for the paediatric dentistry postgraduate programme at the school of dentistry in the University of Leeds.

Teaching

I teach paediatric dentistry to undergraduate and postgraduate students and have leadership roles in teaching and assessment across various aspects of the BDS and Masters programmes.

Research

Research Interests:

My main research/scholarship interest is in dental education with a particular focus on assessment and curriculum development. I have presented my research at scientific conferences of the IAPD, ADEE AMEE, BARDES and EAPD.
