He did his Internship at O.A.U Teaching Hospital and worked briefly there as a senior house officer before proceeding for his mandatory national youth service. On completion of this mandatory service in 2004, he worked under two oral and maxillofacial surgery consultants for three years where he gained experience in oral surgery. He also assisted in undergraduate teaching of medical students during this period. In 2007, Dennis moved to the United Kingdom where he completed an MSc degree in dental public health from Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) in 2008. He also obtained a Diploma in dental public health (DDPH) from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He worked briefly as a research associate in QMUL before joining NHS Islington (now Whittington Health NHS Trust) in 2009. His passion for teaching brought him back to QMUL and Barts Health NHS Trust in 2014 where he has been involved in undergraduate clinical teaching and assessments to date. To formalise his teaching career, he completed a post graduate certificate in academic practice (PGCAP) with a distinction in 2017. Dennis also holds a Licence in Dental Surgery (LDS) and Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) qualifications from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow respectively. He is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England on the Overseas Registration Exam (ORE) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Centre: Centre for Oral Immunobiology and Regenerative Medicine Teaching Dennis co-leads on the Clinical Human Health and Disease- CHHD (Medicine for Dentists) module that teaches general medicine and dental relevance of systemic diseases to dental students. He coordinates and oversees all aspects of CHHD, including examinations, and facilitates students’ hospital clinical placements on the module. He is passionate about dental relevance of systemic diseases, with emphasis on their impact on oral cavity and practice of dentistry generally. Dennis also has a special interest in oral surgery. He assists as a clinical tutor in oral surgery where he carries out clinical teachings and assessments on the undergraduate student clinics.
