Profile

Minan Al-Ezzi is an Academic Lecturer in two dental schools in the UK. She received her dental education at the University of Baghdad/Iraq in 1999. Thereafter, she was funded to do her MSc in Preventive and Community Dentistry at the same university in 2005. This was followed by granting her a scholarship to complete her PhD at QMUL/UK in 2018.

Minan has a teaching passion and had lectured nationally and internationally. In research, she has co-authored a number of peer-reviewed published articles. She is also an Editorial member and reviewer in a number of international peer-reviewed journals. Her clinical PhD was focused on assessing the quality of life in a group of patients with Sjӧgren’s Syndrome and the impact of this condition on the senses of smell and taste, and the sexual function in these patients. Her MSc clinical trial had investigated the antimicrobial properties of tea extract in preventing dental caries. Minan had presented her research in national and international scientific meetings where she was awarded a research prize at the British Sjӧgren’s Syndrome Association annual meeting in Swindon in 2016.

Research interest: Sjӧgren’s Syndrome, dry mouth, smell and taste dysfunction, sexual function, herbal extract effect in preventing dental caries, systematic review and meta-analysis, Evidence Based Dentistry.
