Fiorella graduated from Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University in 2003, awarded a BDS with Honours and obtained the Professional Dental Surgeon title from the Peruvian Dental Council in 2005.
Fiorella worked in the Public Health Department at the NHS Tower Hamlets Trust until 2010 and contributed to the development, delivery and evaluation of successful oral health promotion programmes in the local community. She held a Teaching and Post-Doctoral Research Associate post at King’s College London until 2019. Fiorella firstly joined the Orthodontics team at Queen Mary University of London in 2016 as a Qualitative Research Assistant, before being appointed as a Post-doctoral Research Assistant. Since 2022, Fiorella has been a part-time Lecturer in Orthodontics in the Centre for Oral Bioengineering.

Teaching
Fiorella obtained a Certificate in Teaching and was appointed a Fellow in the Higher Education Academy, in recognition of her learning and teaching experience.
Fiorella is an academic supervisor for PhD and DClinDent candidates in Orthodontics within the University. In this role, she contributes towards the development of the trainees’ research skills and knowledge. She has successfully supervised research projects of at least six postgraduate students. Recently, the study team and Fiorella got awarded the Chapman Prize 2020 from the British Orthodontics Society for our article: ‘Understanding factors influencing compliance with removable functional appliances: A qualitative study’.
Since 2016, Fiorella has collaborated with the Centre for Teaching and Innovation and been responsible for developing and delivering face-to face and online lectures and leading on various assessment in Sociology to undergraduate dental and dental care professional students.

• Dental workforce education, health and wellbeing;
• Oral health needs assessment and quality of life.
Fiorella has a broad spectrum of experience in mixed-methods, qualitative and quantitative research studies.
