In 1970. After obtaining a Master of Science in Periodontology at the University of Michigan, USA, Professor Lang returned to the University of Berne to earn his PhD in 1978. Currently Professor of Implant Dentistry at the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR PR China, in the area of oral rehabilitation. Author of over 520 refereed publications and conference proceedings, Professor Lang holds four honorary doctorates as well as honorary memberships of 10 national societies and received Honour’s including the “Prix Louis Metzger” (1968) from the Swiss Dental Association (SSO) and the “Basic Science in Periodontal Disease Award” (1992) from the International Association for Dental Research. Former President of the International Team of Implantology (ITI) and the Swiss Society of Periodontology (SSP). Professor Lang is editor-in-chief of Clinical Oral Implants Research. Professor Lang actively participates in clinical research related to implant dentistry, periodontology, aetiology and pathogenesis of peri-implant infections risk evaluations wound healing and oral microbiology.
