Profile

Dr Al-Helou is currently an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow/ Speciality Registrar in Prosthodontics at the Centre of Oral Bioengineering at the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. She has joined the speciality-training pathway in 2024.

Dr Al-Helou graduated from University of Liverpool where she gained her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) with honours in 2019. Dr Al-Helou then went on to complete her Diploma of membership with the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCS Ed). Dr Al-Helou is committed to education which led her to gaining a PGCERT with distinction in Teaching and Learning in Clinical Practice.

Dr Al-Helou's experience includes 2 years working as a Dental Core Trainee in Restorative and General duties across two trusts. She also gained accreditation to provide Intravenous and Inhalation sedation to patients undergoing dental treatment and has treated many patients at Liverpool Dental Hospital and the Royal London Dental Hospital. She has authored multiple articles published in prestigious journals, including the British Dental Journal (BDJ), Oral Surgery Journal, and Dental Update, covering topics such as endodontics, bone grafting, and treatment planning. Dr Al-Helou has also presented at conferences such as the BSPD, BISOM, and internationally on topics including streamlining sedation pathways, UDCs and COVID as well as looking at referral pathways. She has been awarded multiple awards during her career.
