Research in this platform focuses on utilising computational techniques including modeling, imaging, machine learning, 3D and computational photography for real-world applications, and improved patient outcomes and increased usability of products. Advancements in this space require an interdisciplinary approach, working with end users and medical professionals to tackle growing issues and generate workable models for predictions and evaluations.
Driven by Professor Greg Slabaugh, DERI Director and Professor of Computer Vision and AI, and Professor Venet Osmani, Professor of Clinical AI and Machine Learning, research currently ongoing is harnessing deep learning techniques for computational photography and medical image computing, reconstruction, neural rendering and pose retargeting for 3D digital humans, and using probabilistic and causal models for new applications in decisions-support.
