Zi Parker

Profile

Zi as Head of the Doctoral College is the professional lead for Queen Mary's Doctoral College, and leads on PGR strategy.  Zi has worked with PGRs in universities for almost a decade, and is passionate about PGR wellbeing and support and supporting PGRs to achieve their potential. 

Zi is responsible for leading the Doctoral College portfolio of work across Queen Mary.  She is responsible for developing and leafing the university PGR strategy and ensuring that PGR is at the core of the Queen Mary Research Directorate. Zi also worked in the wider university sector to ensure that Queen Mary is at the forefront of good practice. Zi usually works in a project based fashion, delivering a number of long-term projects such as enhancing PGR payments process, supporting widening participation in PGR and delivering excellent PGR student experience. 

 Key Functions: 

• PGR strategy development
• PGR surveying and monitoring, including running Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES)
• PGR strategic projects – for 2024 this will include a university wide project to support widening participation in PGR. 
• Coordination of QMUL PGR Managers Network, Director of Graduate Studies Network and PGR Supervisor training.
