The School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science is committed to providing a positive working environment where everyone can achieve their full potential irrespective of gender, race, sexual orientation or disability.
Some of our activities show how important this is to us.
In an effort to create an equitable working culture, we collect and monitor relevant disaggregated data on many aspects of school life, from student recruitment to seminar speakers, and act on our findings. We publicise events that promote inclusion and diversity in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science through our Blog and Twitter feed.
We are very pleased to be a partner in the Institute of Coding, an initiative funded by the Department for Education that brings together a range of universities, industry, and training providers in order to break down barriers to digital learning and employment.
Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, which meets termly, comprises of members from all career stages from PhD student to the Head of School, and includes academics and professional services' members. We also represent the Electronic Engineering and Computer Science within the Faculty of Science and Engineering EDI Committee.
Our School holds an Athena SWAN Bronze Award in recognition of our ongoing commitment to the advancement of gender equality.
