Tell us about your work?
I work with Bayesian Networks developing models to support the management of gestational diabetes.
Tell us how you got into EE&CS?
I am a statistician and ended up interested in this project that aims to develop decision support systems for improving management of chronic conditions. I always have found programming very interesting but as a statistician my research was more theoretical; when I learned about this project, I found it a good opportunity to use my knowledge in a real world application.
What brought you to Queen Mary?
I decided to apply for a PhD position in Queen Mary because of the opportunity to work in this project with my second supervisor Norman Fenton, who conducts very interesting research using Bayesian Networks in real world applications.
What’s the best thing about your work?
The most interesting part of my work is working with a team of clinicians, statisticians and computer scientists to develop this tool that will assist people with chronic conditions. I learn a lot working with people from different backgrounds and being part of a team that is building a tool that will improve people's lives feels very rewarding.
