Recently, the China International College Students' Innovation Competition (2024) Finals concluded in Shanghai. The competition received 5.14 million project submissions from 153 countries and regions, with 1,410 projects advancing to the finals. After intense competition, our institute's "Voice Diagnosis Smart Medical" team won a bronze medal in the "Industrial Theme Track" of the national finals with their project "AI + Healthcare - Parkinson's Early Screening System Based on Voice Analysis." The team was the only undergraduate team from the Beijing region to qualify for the finals in the "Industrial Theme Track."
The "Voice Diagnosis Smart Medical" team focuses on AI-based throat health assessment and early Parkinson's screening through voice analysis. Using spectrum-to-image CAN recognition technology and a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) model with high generalization capabilities, they convert voice signals into spectrograms to precisely extract key voice information for efficient assessment of throat health and early Parkinson's detection. The technology's strength lies in its excellent generalization, maintaining high accuracy across diverse populations and environments, enhancing both analytical precision and clinical reliability.
Queen Mary University of London - BUPT Joint College (Hainan) emphasizes innovation and entrepreneurship education through team cultivation, collaborative learning, and mentorship. Following the principle of "promoting education through competition," the college organizes various innovation activities including the Hainan Free Trade Port Future Talent Innovation Training Camp, innovation competitions, "Fusion Innovation" salons, and AI challenges.
Moving forward, the college will use President Xi Jinping's letter to competition participants as guidance for innovation and educational activities. They will implement comprehensive talent development programs integrating ideology, specialization, industry, and scientific innovation. This approach aligns with China's socialist education development path, balancing "bringing in" and "going global" strategies to build educational strength with strong ideological guidance, talent competitiveness, technological support, social welfare assurance, social coordination, and international influence.
