QMUL-BUPT Joint Programme Student Receives SEED Award from the Queen Mary Academy (QMA).
Our QMUL-BUPT Joint Programme Student Ji ZHENG received the QMA's Student Enhanced Engagement and Development (SEED) award.
The co-creation project is "Co-create and Co-deliver Learning Workshops for Enhancing Students’ GenAI Competence," which Professor Yue Chen endorses.
The project is a forward-thinking initiative designed to prepare the next generation of human-AI workforce by fostering Generative AI competence among students, led by Prof Yue Chen. Launched in April 2024, the project has made significant strides through a series of student focus groups and a targeted workshop. The focus groups gathered critical insights into student perspectives on GenAI, shaping a workshop that not only educated but also alleviated concerns about over-reliance on AI. The workshop, attended by 67 students from the QMUL-BUPT summer school, featured a live demonstration of GenAI tools, receiving an overwhelmingly positive response with over 80% of participants finding it helpful.
This initiative has been transformative, enhancing students’ GenAI competence and developing the project coordinator’s leadership and analytical skills. The project’s success underscores the importance of integrating AI in education and preparing the academic community for the evolving landscape of AI technologies. It signifies the Joint Programme’s commitment to fostering a skilled and confident workforce ready to harness the power of AI in their future endeavours.
SEED award students will receive a certificate and the award will appear in their HEAR transcript.
