Antennas Guest Speaker Seminar: “Results on meta-surface and transformation optics”
2 April 2014
Time: 2:00 - 3:00pm
Venue: Top Floor Seminar Room, Informatics Teaching Lab
The Antennas Group is very pleased to announce the following Guest Speaker Seminar. The seminar will take place on Wednesday 2nd April 2014 in the ITL (Informatics Teaching Laboratory) Top Floor Seminar Room at 2 pm: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Title: “Some results on meta-surface and transformation optics" Presenters: Prof. Dr. Huanyang Chen, Soochow University, China Date, Place and Time: Wednesday 2nd April 2014, ITL (Informatics Teaching Laboratory) Top Floor Seminar Room, starting at 2.00 pm Abstract: In this talk, some interesting results on meta-surface and transformation optics will be shown. In particular, a broadband unidirectional waveguide without polarization limitations designed by his group will be demonstrated, and two new concepts of transformation optics (TO) will be presented: 1) TO with artificial Riemann sheets, and 2) TO with FP resonance. Biography: Huanyang Chen received the B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China, in 2005 and 2008 respectively. From 2006 to 2009, he was a Research Assistant and a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong. He is currently a Professor in Soochow University, Suzhou, China. His research interests include photonic/phononic crystals, metamaterial designs, and transformation optics/acoustics. He has authored or coauthored more than 50 papers, including a recent review for Nature Materials. His papers have been cited for more than 1500 times, and he has an H-index of 20. His work on transformation acoustics and acoustic cloaking has been selected by IOP as "the best of 2008". ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
