The world-famous CHRISTMAS LECTURES are coming to Tower Hamlets in December, when Queen Mary University of London streams the live filming, direct from the Royal Institution (Ri) theatre in London. This year, Professor Mike Wooldridge will will tackle the big questions and unravel the myths of AI research.
The Royal Institution’s Christmas Lectures, designed for children and young people, are held at the Faraday Lecture Theatre in central London. These lectures, featuring Prof Mike Wooldridge discussing "The Truth About AI" are recorded by the BBC for Christmas television broadcasts. Additionally, they are live-streamed to various locations across the UK.
Queen Mary University of London is delighted to extend an invitation for you, your family, or school to join us for the live streaming of these lectures. It's a unique experience similar to going to the cinema – you won't be on-screen or recorded.
The live stream will be available on the 12th, 14th, and 16th of December from 5:30 to 8:30 pm, allowing you to enjoy the lectures from the comfort of Queen Mary University.
Throughout the three Lectures, Professor Wooldridge will explore the big questions facing AI research and unravel the myths about how this ground-breaking technology really works. How can a machine be taught to play a game or translate from one language to another?
He will show how computer programmes inspired by the human brain can be taught and even teach themselves. And he will tell the surprising story of how tools like the latest chatbots work and illustrate the mind-boggling scale of modern AI systems – that can be used in everything from gaming to movie-making to designing drugs.
Across the series Michael will be joined by some major figures from the AI world, including scientists from the world’s leading AI companies. He will also introduce a range of robot friends, who will demonstrate what robots today can do – and what they can’t. Perhaps he may even surprise the audience with some Deep Fake guests who are not quite what they seem.
If you want to attend more than one of the FREE lectures please note that you’ll need to get a ticket for each person for each event.
