Title:Operational Research for Complex and Uncertain Systems
Abstract:The Operational Research (OR) Group at QMUL, led by Prof Edmund K. Burke, has a strong track record of successfully delivering large research projects of high impact. Through funded PhD studentships, shared KTP associates and research council funded projects, the group carries out research at the interface among Operational Research, Computer Science and Engineering, developing mathematical models and solution methodologies for decision support in real world problem solving. The talk will cover recent research activities within the group including maintenance scheduling for the telecom industry, surgery scheduling, genetic improvement of software, machine learning, routing and scheduling for airport operations and operations and supply chain management.
