Dr Aisha Abuelmaatti
qTech Academic Director 

Aisha is a lecturer within the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London, the Programme Director for BSc (Hons) Computer Science with Management (ITMB), and the Deputy Programme Director for L7 Degree Apprenticeship. She is also a member of the Sustainability Committee and the Employability and Placements Committee.

Our Mentors

David Sint

David is a Technical Consultant at IBM specialising in web architecture (with particular experience in the retail landscape) and alumnus of QMUL's Computer Science with Management (ITMB) degree. At QMUL, his final year project involved using ML to try to predict stock price volatility from tweets, however, now he works on various projects at IBM. His most recent project utilises his JavaScript, Python, bash and architecture skills to coordinate and run teams creating new integrations for a cloud platform into third party systems like commerce engines, order and inventory management, personalisation, task management which are then used by web and mobile apps to bring new user journeys for store associates and customers. He is also certified as a scrum master and has experience running Design Thinking workshops used to generate big ideas and solutions to pain points.

 

Ryan Clifford

Ryan is an API Product Lead at Fiserv, focused on designing, building, and managing APIs to enable businesses to accept payments instore and online. Ryan has predominantly worked within Financial Services in roles across technology, strategy, and product at Fiserv, Finastra, Barclays, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and EY. Ryan is a BSc Computer Science with Management (ITMB) and MSc Banking and Finance graduate from Queen Mary University of London. He has also recently completed a MSc in Human-Computer Interaction part time at UCL. Outside of work he has a passion for inspiring the next generation into technology and equipping students with the skills to problem solve, build confidence, and think creatively.

Dr Usman Naeem

Usman is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) within the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London. His research focus is on assistive technologies, which includes machine learning techniques, context awareness, mobile computing, and ambient intelligent environments. Usman has over 15 years of successful teaching experience in higher education, which includes teaching on a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate modules. Usman is also Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).
