We are all very happy to announce the arrival of a new PhD student, Ceci Hijar from Mexico.

Ceci joins us from Mexico thanks to the support of their Government (CONACYT). She will be working as part of our stickleback team.

Here is a short introduction she wrote:

"I joined Queen Mary University of London in September 2017, on a scholarship from the Mexican National Council for Science and Technology (CONACYT), for studying in the MSc in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. My MSc dissertation project dealt with the learning capacity and behavioural ecology of solitary bees. After finishing my MSc programme, I discovered a deep interest in evolutionary biology and re-joined Queen Mary for undertaking a PhD in Biological Sciences. Following my interest in behavioural ecology, I will be studying the eco-evolutionary dynamics of host-parasite interactions in three-spined stickleback fish. Specifically, I will be looking at traits, such as parental care and sperm-quality of males, under different strengths of parasite-mediated selection, and their effects on the ecosystem at the community level".
