The inauguration ceremony of the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (hereinafter referred to as “ICDPASO”) was held on 15 Oct 2020.
ICDPASO is an international non-governmental and non-profit organization jointly initiated and established by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and China Chamber of International Commerce. ICDPASO is composed of commercial institutions, trade associations, legal service providers, university think tanks as well as other entities in the field of international commerce around the world.
ICDPASO is registered in Beijing in accordance with the relevant laws of the People's Republic of China.
ICDPASO is committed to “providing the diversified services covering the international commercial dispute prevention and settlement, protecting the legitimate right of the parties, creating the business environment with high efficiency, fairness and justification, and facilitating the construction of a more justifiable and equitable international economic order”.
Mrs ZHANG Yuejiao, former Chairwoman of WTO Appellate Body and professor at Tsinghua University, is the honorary Chairwoman of ICDPASO.
Mr YU Jianlong has been elected as first Chairman of ICDPASO. Mr YU is also Vice president of the World Chambers Federation of International Chamber of Commerce, as well as Secretary General of China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC). Mr YU is the former Secretary General of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC).
Former member of the European Parliament, Mr Derek Vaughan is Vice Chairman of ICDPASO. He is also Chairman of the EU-China Friendship Association.
Mr LIU Chao, the general director of legal affairs department of CCPIT, is the Secretary-General of ICDPASO.
There are two committees within ICDPASO. One is the supervisory committee, among which the Belgian Chinese Chamber of Commerce (BCECC), Camera Di Commercio Italo Cinese, China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, China Association of Small and Medium Enterprises are listed. The other one is the advisory committee, among which Amfori, Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution, China University of Political Science and Law, Renmin University of China are listed.
This new association regrouping members from all over the world illustrates the increasing role China is playing in the field of law and dispute settlement.
