SCHUMANN AND WESLEY
We celebrate two Anniversary composers born in 1810: Robert Schumann and Samuel Sebastian Wesley. The internationally well known Schumann was a melodic genius, and we include some of his most poignant works written in the context of an enigmatic and complex life. Wesley, virtually unknown outside the UK, was a great Victorian cathedral composer, who too excelled in writing good tunes, and, by all accounts portrayed a colourful personality.
To comply with tradition, this concert ends with Christmas carols for audience and performers.
