'Are the Media Free in Russia Today?'

Queen Mary, University of London and the EU-Russia Centre are delighted to invite you to a roundtable on the topic  “Are the media free in Russia today?”, which will take place on 7 March 2011 from 18:30 to 20:00 at The Octagon, Queens Building, Queen Mary, University of London, Mile End Road, London E1 4NS.

The Roundtable, convened by Professor Catherine Merridale and Professor Andreas Schönle, will be moderated by John Lloyd, contributing editor at the Financial Times and former Moscow Bureau Chief.

Participants include Sir Anthony Brenton, former British Ambassador to Moscow; Dr. George Bovt, independent journalist, former executive editor-in-chief at Izvestiia; and Dr. Maria Lipman, editor-in-chief of Pro et Contra (Carnegie Moscow Center) and regular op-ed contributor to The Washington Post, former deputy editor of the news weekly Itogi and Ezhenedel’nyi zhurnal.
