Time: 1:00pmVenue: ‘The Octagon’ Queen Mary University of London, Mile End Road, London
Up to now, television broadcasting has largely been seen as a purely passive activity with the user having little or no say on how broadcast material is presented to them. However, the availability of increased bandwidth, with feedback channels from the user to the studio, together with new research in the fields of semantic tagging and automatic camera tracking, will allow users to have a much greater say on individualised production of the content. Ultimately, this will lead to the development of personalised broadcasting services over a variety of channels and networks provide possibilities for new forms of user experience and offer novel revenue generating services for both broadcasters and content providers.
The purpose of this meeting is to explore the latest research into this field, giving the audience a taste of the future of broadcasting. Talks will be given by leading players and researchers in the area of Personalised Interactive Broadcasting and demonstrations given as to the latest technology being developed.
This meeting is jointly sponsored by the Digital Communications KTN and by the EPSRC through Queen Mary’s Knowledge Transfer Account (impactQM), which seeks to develop relationships between early-career researchers developing technology in universities and those exploiting that technology in industry.
