Fifty Years of Film Criticism: In Conversation with Philip French
As an author, journalist and broadcaster, Philip French has been at the centre of British film culture since the early 1960s. Writing for the Observer since 1978, he has earned a reputation as Britain’s foremost film critic. A recently published collection of his criticism, I Found it at the Movies: Reflections of a Cinephile, is the first of three volumes to document his career. Queen Mary is proud to welcome him to this event, which will look back on his own experiences and also consider the history and future of film criticism.
Philip French will be in conversation with Jeffrey Richards, Professor of Cultural History at Lancaster University, and the evening will be chaired by Dr Mark Glancy, Senior Lecturer in History at Queen Mary University of London.
A wine reception will follow the interview.
