WILSON, WILSONIANISM AND WORLD WAR I' BY PROFESSOR ADAM TOOZE

27 May 2014

Time: 5:00pm
Venue: Arts One Lecture Theatre, QMUL

The Queen Mary Seminar Series on America presents: 'Wilson, Wilsonianism and World War I' by Professor Adam Tooze.

America’s intervention in World War I and its role in the postwar efforts at peacemaking mark the moment at which America ascended to world leadership. The fiasco of Woodrow Wilson’s liberal internationalism is one of the great dramas not just of US foreign relations but of twentieth-century international history tout court. But Wilsonianism and Woodrow Wilson’s original intent are two different things, which this talk will seek to disentangle. This in turn will allow us better to understand the derailment of his project.
