Who is the course intended for?Anyone involved in the design, conduct, analysis or reporting of pragmatic trials in theacademic or NHS sector. The course will be of interest to new principal investigators, research nurses, PhD students, early career researchers and trial managers.

Topics to be covered include:The importance of pragmatic trials in healthcare, designing interventions, randomisation, choosing outcomes, sample size considerations, recruitment, trial management, trial set-up, data collection, quality control, quality assurance, adverse event reporting, statistical analysis, economic analysis and trial reporting.Teaching will consist of short lectures followed by group-work. The course will conclude with a ‘putting it into practice’ session where students will produce a trial protocol.
