The four-year programme leading to the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery is designed to be a fast-track route for graduates who obtained good degrees in science or health-related subjects. The first year of study is based on the first two years of the five year programme.
Queen Mary University of London is proud to offer a five-year Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme taught on the Mediterranean islands of Malta. The MBBS is taught by Queen Mary's Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, a member of the Russell Group of leading research-led UK universities.
Entry on to year 3 of the 5 year (A100) MBBS programme is specifically designed for qualified dentists who are fully registered with the General Dental Council and members of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (BAOMS) or the British & Irish Society for Oral Medicine (BISOM). There are 10 available places each year and is only open to those who are UK domiciled/have a Home Fee Status. Applicants must have the MFDS, at least 12 months experience of clinical pathway and clear career aims. In addition it is desirable to have some publication history or research experience.
Applicants applying for this course are not required to take the UCAT.
Applications should be made directly to the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry from October each year with an application deadline in December.

Students looking to join the St Andrews and Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London route should apply to St Andrews, directly. Following the 3 years at St Andrews students who are selected from this route join the Year 3 of the Barts course for a further 3 clinical years. The five-year course leading to Bachelor of Dental Surgery has been designed to equip you with a broad knowledge of all relevant aspects of medicine and dentistry and the application of this knowledge to the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of oral and dental diseases and abnormalities.
On this three-year degree programme, you will study alongside, and be integrated with, the BDS students, which fosters a team approach to patient care. You will learn the skills and knowledge that are required for you to register with the General Dental Council as a dental therapist or hygienist upon graduation.
Courses leading to an intercalated degree offer students an excellent opportunity to think critically about, and to study more deeply, the scientific bases of the medical sciences. Experience has shown that those who have undertaken an intercalated degree gain a deeper knowledge of the underlying science as well as a greater understanding of their clinical studies.
