Dr Marcus HatchHonorary Research FellowEmail: m.hatch@qmul.ac.ukTelephone: +44 (0)20 7882 2745Room Number: Bancroft Building, Room 2.11ProfilePublicationsProfileI am a Palaeolithic archaeologist, with particular expertise in the British Lower Palaeolithic. I have experience of field excavations and undertaking geoarchaeological work both research and commercial archaeological purposes, and including supervising borehole work, section recording, geophysical investigations and TS/GNSS surveying. My PhD was one of two AHRC funded CDA PhDs on the Solent River Palaeolithic Project. This research focused on the stratigraphical and chronological framework for the Palaeolithic archaeological record of the Solent River. AS part of this project I developed expertise in optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating of sediments. As a post-doctoral researcher on the Breckland Palaeolithic Project I was involved in a number of site investigations, including excavations, recording of geological sections and test pits, coarse-mesh sieving programmes and sample processing. I also worked with French colleagues on electron spin resonance (ESR) dating of samples from various Breckland sites, gaining expertise in both field sampling and sample analysis at the Museum of Natural History’s ESR dating lab in Paris. I am a Research Associate with the Pathways to Ancient Britain project and I have been involved in a number of PAB research projects. I am part of the project team for the Palaeolithic Artefacts arising from Sandscaping (PADS) project and have been working with Norfolk Museums Service to identify and record artefacts found on the beaches of northeast Norfolk.ResearchPublicationsRecent Publications Lewis, S.G., Ashton, N., Davis, R.J., Hatch, M., Hoare, P.G., Voinchet, P., Bahain, J-J. 2021.
